how-to : From Grocery Bag to Statement Necklace
In my latest YouTube video, I started with a kumihimo cord made from grocery bags (that tutorial here). The chord wasn’t very long so I figured I’d turn it into a bracelet. My goal was experimenting with new glues and to be honest, I wasn’t sure any of it would work!
Turns out the glues held up, but the bracelet findings? Not so much. So, I pivoted. And what emerged was a lightweight, contemporary necklace that I now love. It has the kind of clean, sculptural look that makes me want to explore a whole series: different lengths, different amounts, maybe even some large decorative knots?
Sometimes the best designs come from unexpected turns, and this piece is one of them.
