This large bracelet was inspired by one of my favorite details of a mushroom: the delicate, densely packed gills beneath its cap. I recreated those radiating structures using translucent plastic packaging from salad and berry containers, held together with PLA filament from a 3D pen.

At the time, I was learning about research into fungi and mycelium as potential tools for addressing plastic pollution, including their ability to break down certain plastics and their potential as alternatives to plastic-based materials. I was already fascinated by the intricate structure of mushroom gills, but learning about their potential relationship to one of the materials I was working with deepened that fascination. The mushroom became both a source of visual inspiration and a reminder of the possibility of biological approaches to our waste.
